How to Look Up Power BI Engineering Roadmap & Release Plan

As an Asia Technical Lead in Data & AI, I often get questions on feature requests and product roadmaps, especially what’s coming up and priorities for Microsoft Power BI. The Power BI engineering team focuses on the following priorities:

1. Empower every individual with instantly familiar experiences and AI-infused insights.
2. Empower every team with business intelligence to make data a standard part of every decision and turn insights into actions.
3. Empower every organization to meet the most demanding enterprise needs for scalability and governance.

The new features and updates come in the form of Private Preview, Public Preview, and Generally available (GA). The phases are as follows:

• Private preview — During this phase we invite a few customers to take part in early access to new concepts and features. This phase does not include formal support.
• Public preview — During this phase we allow any customer with the proper Power BI license to evaluate the new feature. Microsoft will supply support services during this phase, but normal service level agreements do not apply.
